MISSOURI INFANTRY.

EIGHTH REGIMENT.
(BATTALION OF.)

(This regiment was organized at St. Louis, Mo., from Jane 12 to August 14, 1861, to serve three years. The original members (except veterans) were mastered out by detachments at different dates from July 7 to August 17, 1864, by reason of expiration of term of service, and the organization, composed of veterans and recruits, consolidated into a battalion of two companies and retained in service until August 14, 1865, when it was mustered out.)

TWENTY-SEVENTH REGIMENT.

(This regiment was organized at St. Louis Mo., from September 2, 1862, to January 8, 1863, to serve three years. Two companies of the 5th regiment Missouri infantry, organized in September, 1861, were assigned to this regiment December 18, 1862, and one company of the 16th regiment Missouri infantry October 13, 1862. Company H was mustered out of service September 17,1864; company E November 3, 1864; and company K January 10, 1865. Companies A, B, C. and D were mastered out, and companies F, G, and I transferred to consolidated battalion, 31st and 32d Missouri infantry, June 13. 1865.)

IOWA CAVALRY.

FIRST REGIMENT.

(This regiment was organized at Davenport, Iowa, in July, August, and September, 1861, to serve three years. On the expiration of its term of service the original members (except veterans) were mustered out, and the organization, composed of veterans and recruits, retained in service until February 15, 1886, when it was mustered out.)

SEVENTH REGIMENT.

(Companies A to H, inclusive, of this regiment were organized at Davenport, Iowa, from April 27 to July 13, 1863, to serve three years. The Sioux City Cavalry organized at Sioux City, Iowa, November 14, 1861, to serve three years, was assigned to this regiment as company I, and three companies of the 41st regiment Iowa infantry, organized at Iowa City, Iowa, October 23 and 24, 1861, to serve three years, assigned as companies K, L, and M. The original members (except veterans) of companies I, K, L, and M were mustered out as their terms of service expired, the veterans and recruits of company I being transferred to company L. Companies A to H, inclusive, were mastered out of service May 17, 1886, and companies K, L, and M, June 22, 1886.)
