William Wood ( – 1831)

“Dr. William Wood was a native of Swansey. He practiced medicine In Dighton for many years. His name has been mentioned In the list of collectors of customs for the port of Dighton. He died Jan. 17, 1831, In the sixtieth year of his age. His first wife was Mary Mosler, of Dartmouth; his second was Mary Ware, widow of Dr. George Ware, and his third wife was Bridget Briggs. Dr. Alfred Wood, his son by his first wife, also practiced medicine here for many years, and was also interested in the nursery business. His daughter, Adeline, by his second wire, married Dr. Charles Talbot, of this town, lately deceased. By his last wife he had two sons,—William and Daniel.”

  1. … SPECKING OF BEAUTIFUL ( BELLE GROVE ) AFTER COMING ACROSS INFO – PERTAINING TO ITS GRANDEUR – AT MY PUBLIC LIBRARY IN PINE BLUFF ARKANSAS ( JEFFERSON COUNTY ) DO BELIEVE IT WAS THE WARE FAMILY UNIT ( SUGAR PLANTATION OWNERS ) WHO BUILT THIS MANSION ( THE LARGEST ONE OF ITS KIND ) AS MEMORY SERVES ME RIGHT – THIS COUPLE HAD TWO DAUGHTERS – FOLLOWED THEIR GROWTH & DEVELOPMENT – WHEN THEY CAME OF AGE – THE YOUNG LADIES MARRIED ( FOREIGNERS I BELIEVE ) WEALTH WILL DO THAT FOR YOU VICKI – YOU GET TO MARRY FOREIGNERS & HIGHER UPS – AND GO ABOARD TO SOCIETAL LEVELS THAT ( AT THAT TIME ) DOES NOT EXIST IN ONES OWN COUNTRY ( BUT IN GOING ABOARD ) THE YOUNG LADIES & THEIR SPOUSES LEFT ( BELLE GROVE ) BEHIND – CAN NOT REMEMBER IF THERE WERE ANY BROTHERS TO THESE YOUNG LADIES – AND IF NOT – THAT MEANS THE FAMILY NAME & THE FUTURE GENERATIONAL BASIC WELFARE – WAS DEFINITELY AFFECTED & NOT FOR THE GOOD – DURING AN ERA – ESPECIALLY WHEN THE SUGAR PLANTATION ERA – WAS IN THE PROCESS OF BEING SANDWICHED IN BETWEEN – ITS ORIGIN & THE CIVIL WAR ( AN ERA THAT WAS SHORT LIVED THERE VICKI ) ONCE THE WAR HAD ENDED – THE GREAT SUGAR WEALTH HAD BEEN GRABBED UP BY OTHER COUNTRIES – AND THE WEALTH THEREOF FOR AMERICANS – AS THEY SAY – WAS GONE WITH THE WIND – AND IT WOULD HAVE TAKEN THE WEALTH OF SUGAR IN THOSE DAYS – TO HAVE KEPT ( BELLE GROVE ) WITH US – FOR THE PRESENT ENJOYMENT OF OUR NATION TODAY ( AND THATS ASHAME TOO ) FOR IF THIS GREAT MANSION WITH HERE TODAY – THEN NATURALLY – YOURS TRULY WOULD BE RIGHT IN THAT WALK THROUGH NUMBER ( EVERY ONE OF THOSE SEVENTY FIVE ROOMS ) AS IT WERE …
