Dorothy M. Ware Obituary, 2008

DOROTHY M. WARE, 85, longtime Memphis resident and most recently a patient of both Collierville Health and Rehabilitation Center and the Cordova Rehab Center, passed from this life on May 12, 2008 after a long illness. Dorothy is now reunited with her husband, Stuart M. Ware. She is survived by her family: David and Anna Ware of Collierville and Douglas and Andrea Ware of Rock Hill, SC, and grandchildren, Ian and Ainsley Ware of Collierville. Mom’s life of service was inspirational. Whether raising a family, taking care of her husband or sisters, looking in on friends, and shuttling them to various appointments and grocery runs, she gave out of love and expected little in return. Mom was always active in her church, Trinity Presbyterian, where she served on the Session and for decades was the volunteer administrative assistant for the church. When the church consolidated with First Presbyterian in downtown Memphis, she moved her membership to Evergreen Presbyterian. Dorothy worked outside the home in administrative roles at Dixie Greyhound Civil Defense, The Medical Group and Le Bonheur Children’s Medical Center. After retiring from the workforce, she remained active volunteering at The Church Health Center until her health forced her to slow down. Services will be on Thursday, May 15. Visitation begins at 11:30 a.m., with service commencing at 1 p.m. at Memorial Park Funeral Home, 5668 Poplar. In lieu of floral arrangements, the family requests that donations be made in the memory of Dorothy Ware to Crossroads Hospice, 1634 Sycamore View Road, Memphis, TN 38134. Entombment will be in Memorial Park Mausoleum. Memorial Park Funeral Home 901-767-8930 www.memorialparkonline.com
