Carl Ware Jr., 67, of Longmont, loving husband of Patricia Matthews, died June 15, 2010, at his home. He was born on July 5, 1942, in Anderson, South Carolina, to Carl, Sr. and Annie Mae (Banks) Ware. He was raised in Brooklyn, New York, attended San Jose State University and honorably served in the U.S. Army. Carl married Patricia Matthews on January 26, 1980, in Tucson, Arizona. He moved to Niwot in 1985 and to Longmont in 1992. He was a senior programmer for IBM, retiring in 2001. Carl was co-president of the Hix-N-Chix Square Dance Club. He will be remembered for his great wit and sense of humor. Carl enjoyed politics, square dancing and his pets. Carl was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Frederick Ware. He is survived by his wife, Patricia Matthews of Longmont; a son, Jason C. Ware of Santa Clara, California; a daughter, Kimberley Junker of San Diego, California; a grandchild, Dakota Ware of Santa Clara, California; a brother-in-law, John Matthews and wife Suzanne of New Orleans, Louisiana; and a sister-in law, Kathleen O’Sullivan of Northport, New York. Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m., with Rosary Prayer service at 7 p.m., on Monday, June 21, 2010, at Ahlberg Funeral Chapel. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, June 22, 2010, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. Interment to follow at Fort Logan National Cemetery at 2:15 p.m. at Shelter C.
