Donald L. Ware, 82, of Russellville died Friday, Jan. 22, 2010, at his home. He was born Sept. 27, 1927, in Independence, Mo., to Everett Leroy and Mary Tracey Ware. He was the author of the book “Remington Army: Navy Revolvers 1861-1888.” He was known as “the walking encyclopedia on Remington pistols from the Civil War era.” He served during World War II aboard Merchant Marine ships and was a retired roofer. He was preceded in death by his parents, stepmother, Elsie Ware, and wife, Erma L. Basye Ware. Survivors include one son, Wesley S. Ware of Phoenix, Ariz.; three daughters and one son-in-law, Susan and Charles Wrye-Jaramillo, Leslie Diane Lillard and Sharon L. Orton, all of Buckeye, Ariz.; a sister, Dorothy Ditmars of Lathrop, Mo.; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. The family would also like to extend heartfelt thanks for all of the loving support Donald’s brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Charles and Virginia Thomas of Russellville, provided during his battle with cancer.
