Patricia Althea “Patty” Ware Smith, 73, of Springdale died Tuesday, Nov. 11, 2003, in Springdale. She was born Aug. 20, 1930, in Jacksonville, Fla., to Walker Macon “Jack” and Althea Monroe Ware. Mrs. Smith married Harvey E. Smith Sr. on Aug. 6, 1948, in Springdale. The couple moved to California, where together they operated a nursery and garden supply in Pacific Palisades, Calif. They returned to Arkansas in 1962 and raised their children at Springbrook Farm in Fayetteville. Mrs. Smith was a volunteer with both her children’s and grandchildren’s schools and activities, and with Washington Regional Medical Center Auxiliary. She loved gardening, and above all, caring for her family. She is preceded in death by her father; her mother, Oct. 27, 2003; and a brother, Richard A. Ware. Survivors include her husband, Harvey E. Smith Sr.; a son, Dr. Harvey E. Smith Jr. and wife Amy of Fayetteville; three daughters, Cheryl Kathleen Maples and husband Richard of North Little Rock, Linda C. Smith and Cynthia Eileen “Cindy” McAnarney, both of Fayetteville; a brother, Walker M. “Buck” Ware of Bigfork, Mont.; a sister, Dorothy Wilson of Fayetteville; 13 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Visitation will begin noon Thursday in the Sisco Funeral Chapel in Springdale. The family will be present from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. A graveside service will be 10 a.m. Friday in Bluff Cemetery. Pallbearers will be her six grandsons, Benjamin L. Davis, Matthew T. Davis, Ryan A. McAnarney, Darin G. Monroe, Gregory K. Smith and H. Benjamin Smith. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Washington Regional Medical Center Auxiliary, 3215 N. North Hills Blvd., Fayetteville AR 72703.
