Elizabeth “BJ” Jeanette Jenkins Ware, aged 78, died peacefully on the evening of May 3, 2013, while receiving attentive, compassionate care at the Villages Hospice House in the Villages, FL, after a brief but fierce struggle with cancer. BJ was born March 4, 1935, in Richmond, VA, the daughter of the late William L. Jenkins and the late Jeanette M. Byron. She graduated from Longwood College in Farmville, Virginia, in 1957. BJ resided in Richmond until the late 1970s, and then moved to Hilton Head Island where she fell in love with the Carolina Low Country and the ocean. BJ stayed in Hilton Head until 2006 when she moved to The Villages, FL, where she worked as an office assistant before starting a small pet sitting service. While she enjoyed living in FL, she always retained an undying love of the Low Country. She is survived by her daughter, Page Valgora of Haddonfield, NJ; her daughter, Anne Turner and her son, John Ware, both of Baltimore, MD; one granddaughter and her beloved cat, Sam. BJ requested that no memorial services be held and instead requested that she be returned to the sea.
