Bobbie Jean Buckley was born January 15, 1938, to Irene Smith Ware and Joe Ware, Sr., in Arkadelphia, Arkansas. She was the tenth of eleven children. She received her education at Peake High School at Arkadelphia, Arkansas. She accepted Christ at an early age, and served faithfully at Greater Pleasant Hill Baptist Church before relocating to California and uniting with her late husband and family at New Hope Baptist Church, Seaside, California.
Bobbie was joined in holy matrimony to Charles F. Buckley Sr., her high school sweetheart in 1958.They lived in the San Diego, Ca. area where she was a military wife for most of her husband’s 22 year military career between the many Naval Stations inside the state before his retiring at the Postgraduate School in Monterey, California. Their years together blessed them with three children, Charles F. Buckley Jr., Llewellyn Lee Buckley and Kenneth Wayne Buckley. Bobbie was employed as a Manager of the Army, Air Force, and Navy Exchange (AAFES) at Fort Ord / Monterey, California where the family settled in the city of Marina, California, after the military career ended for her husband. Due to a lengthy illness resulting from an injury occurring while a patient at area navy hospital Bobbie retired from this job. Bobbie later relocated to Arnold, Michigan with Llewellyny, L. Buckley, son and Valerie Buckley, daughter-in-law after the death of her late husband almost two years ago.
Monday, May 21, 2012, Bobbie walked away from this life into the loving and peaceful arms of our father where there is no more weeping, no sorrow and no disappointment. Her loving and caring daughter-in-law Valerie and granddaughter Samaira were by her side.
Bobbie’s greatest love was times spent with her grandchildren: Antonio, Kaiya, Christopher, Leah, Samaira, and Jack. Also her great grandchild Noriyah and her dog Tiger. Bobbie loved watching game shows and soaps with her loving nurse Kylae Howard and son Kamari Brown. Bobbie leaves one “Special Nephew” Myrick L. Ware, of Little Rock, Ar., who spent many summers with the family traveling the California Coast and back to Arkansas.
Bobbie was proceeded in death by her husband Charles F. Buckley, Sr., brothers Charles Ware and Joshua A. Ware, sisters, Mae Helen Ware Minor, Mary L. Ware, and Vivian L. Ware Jackson.
She leaves to cherish her memory four brothers, James (Cora Lee) Ware of Orlando, FL; Joe (Sharon) Ware of Maryland Heights, MO; Melvin Ware of Baltimore, MD; and Octavious B. (Carrie) Ware of Little Rock, AR; one sister, Jane Ware of Hot Springs, AR; three sons, Charles Jr. of Marina, CA; Llewellyn Lee (Valerie) Buckley of Livonia, MI and Kenneth Wayne Buckley of Brentwood of CA; six grandchildren, one great grandchild, and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friend.
Funeral service will be held Friday June 1, at 11 A.M. at Greater Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, Arkadelphia, where Dr. Lewis A. Shepherd is Pastor and Eulogist. Committal and final resting place will be at Helm Cemetery.
