Donna Lepper Ware Obituary, 2009

Donna Lepper Ware, of Greenville, died Thursday May 28, 2009 at home. Born in Erie, PA, she was the daughter of the late Richard C. and Evelyn B. Lepper. She spent many of her early years in Singapore with her parents before moving back to the States. Mrs. Ware attended Dobbs Ferry (NY) High School and graduated from the College of William and Mary with a degree in English. She married her beloved husband Donald B. Ware in 1948. They moved to Greenville in 1950 and began raising their four children. In addition, she was actively involved in many volunteer organizations. Among those were the American Red Cross, the Greenville County School System, the Greenville Little Theatre, and the Sarah Gossett Home. She was an active member of the Wildwood Garden Club until her death. Mrs. Ware was a member of the Fourth Presbyterian Church. She was an avid tennis player, enjoyed playing bridge with friends, and loved to dance. She always treasured spending time at Litchfield Beach. Surviving are her two sons, Richard S. (Deborah) Ware, of Bryn Mawr, PA; and David B. (Karen) Ware, of Simpsonville; two daughters, Nancy E. Ware of Greenville; and Sally W. (Leon H.) Mims, of Asheville, NC; and seven grandchildren, Donald Ware, Laura Ware, Kathryn Ware, John Ware, Walker Mims, Sarah Mims and Ashley Mims. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Donald; and a sister, Mary Ellen Downie. Memorial services will be held Sunday, May 31, 2009 at 2:00pm at Fourth Presbyterian Church, with the Reverend Dr. Allen C. McSween officiating. The family will receive visitors Saturday, May 30, 2009 from 3 to 5:00pm at Donnas home. The family wishes to thank the devoted love and care shown to Mrs. Ware by Fannie and Georgia Willis and Interim Health Care Hospice. We also appreciate the care and dedication of the 2nd floor nursing staff at the Roger C. Peace Center.
