Gertrude Ware Obituary, 1999

BATESVILLE – Gertrude Ware, 81, homemaker, died of heart disease Wednesday at her home. Services will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Pope Chapel AME Zion Church, where she was a Sunday school teacher, Life Council member and usher, with burial in the church cemetery. Cooley’s Mortuary has charge. Mrs. Ware, the wife of Rev. Dewitt Ware, also leaves four daughters, Charistine Blackburn of Pope, Farrie Parker of Batesville and Stella Wright and Catherine Bowdery, both of Memphis; two sons, Lewis Ware and Fredie Earl Ware, both of Memphis; a sister, Rosetta Holmes of Batesville, 15 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
