“Where as, the inhabitants of the town of Deerfield , in the county of Franklin on the first day of April last past in town meeting legally assembled, did authorize and empower the Overseers of the Poor in said town, for the current year, viz: Orlando Ware, Charles Hitchcock, and Stephen Whitney, together with Asa Stebbing, Solomon Williams, and Epaphras Hoyt, to make contracts in behalf of the said town for the support of the poor of said town for a term of years, if they the Committee should think best;”
