Mrs. Mary Delonia Smith Ware Obituary, 1929

“Mrs. Mary D. Ware, wife of Thomas Crate Ware, 55 years old died at the family home here July 8, 1929 following almost exactly a week of serious illness. At about the same hour a week prior she was stricken with paralysis of one side and later in that day suffered the second stroke. She lingered through the week between life and death with the family and attending physicians doing everything that they could to restore her to health and make her as comfortable as possible. The remains were buried Monday afternoon at the Ware Chapel cemetery, with the services conducted at that church. Mrs. Ware was a member of the Church of Christ and by reason of the absence of the pastor from home, Rev. H. M. Johnson, pastor of the First Methodist church here conducted the impressive service.
A large number of citizens from Haynesville and from the Ware community, where deceased was born and reared, attended the funeral. There was a profuse floral offering. Mrs. Ware was a devout Christian character. Those who knew her best speak highly of her as a devoted mother and wife, one who made a happy home and a good citizen of the community. She was a twin and her twin brother was constantly at her bedside during the last illness and attended the funeral and was deeply affected at her passing. Her aged father, in his 80th year was at the funeral and was bowed deep in sadness at the passing of his daughter. She is survived by her husband, four brothers, two sisters and ten children, C. P., O. E., Chester, Seldon, Ray, Mrs. J. L. Kendrick, Mrs. J. V. Kendrick, Mrs. J. D. Kendrick, Gladys and Marjorie Ware.”
