I do hereby certify that Mendoza, now the property of Mr. Benjamin Graves, stood in Frederick County, Virginia at Mr. John Milton’s in the year 1803.  I was in said County the same year and summer following, frequently at Mr. Milton’s, who showed me several of his colts, which he said was gotten by Mendoza; they looked very promising indeed.  Also, my son, James Ware had one gotten by said horse the same spring, which was very fine.
