”In 1833 Norwalk Female Seminary was opened in the Academy building. It was under the auspices of the Methodist church, especially under the superintendency of Miss Eliza Ware. Rev. Jonathan Chaplin soon after became principal and at the time the building burned, in 1836, the Seminary was a flourishing institution.”
