“”Thomas A. Ware, 70, died at 11:24 am Friday in the Veterans Administration Medical Center at Danville, Ill. Mr. Ware was a lifelong resident of the Covington area.
He was a Navy veteran of World War II. He was the former proprietor of the Green Lantern tavern and Maple Corner restaurant in Covington and a fishing camp in Canada. He was a 1938 graduate of Covington High School.
He was born July 1, 1919, at Marshfield, Ind., to Asa and Mary (Ricketts) Ware. He married Cleta L. Abernathy Dec. 11, 1938. She preceded him in death June 27, 1970.
He is survived by three daughters, Karen Roark of Covington, Mrs, Mike (Kay) Zello of Washington, DC and Mrs. Sam (Karel) Quigley of North Bend, Wash.; a sister, Louise Sparks of Bloomington, Ind.; eight grandchildren and seven great-geandchildren. His parents and a sister are deceased.
Funeral services are scheduled for 11 am Monday in the Assembly of God Church at Covington with the Rev. Edgar Allen officiating. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery. Friends may call 4-8 pm Sunday in the Shelby Funeral Home at Covington.”
