PFC Garrett Ware of Fort Knox, Ky., was born Dec. 18, 1990, in Oklahoma City to Chris and Stephanie (Greenmyer) Ware and passed away April 21, 2014, in Louisville, Ky., at the age of 23. Garrett graduated from Bokoshe High School in 2009. He joined the Army in the fall of 2011. He completed basic training in February 2012 in Fort Benning, Ga., and then was stationed at Fort Knox. He recently returned from Afghanistan, where he served a tour of duty for his country in Operation Enduring Freedom. He was a member of the 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 1st Infantry Division 2-2 Infantry Rangers out of Fort Knox, Kentucky. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing his guitar and songwriting. Above all, he loved his family and was so proud to be an American soldier. Garrett is survived by his mother, Stephanie of Stigler; daughter, Kylee Anne Ware of Keota; son, Camden James Ware of Keota; sisters, Kaitlynn Colwell of Stigler and Cheyenne Ware of Jacksonville, Fla.; brothers, Logan Colwell and wife Chelsey of Stigler, Hayden and Andrew Colwell of Alva and Warren Ware of Jacksonville, Fla.; spouse, Krissi McCage-Ware of Panama; father, Chris Ware and Danielle of Jacksonville, Fla.; maternal grandparents, Carolyn and the late T.A. Greenmyer of Stigler and John and Kay Johnson of Yukon; paternal grandparents, Darryl and Linda Colwell of Stigler and Darell and Elaine Ware of Lindsay; aunts and uncles, LeaAnne and Richard Dickson, Emily and Brent Wright, Darryl and Thelma Colwell, Traci and Glen Bond, Katrina and John Crelia and Jessica Johnson; nephew, Randall “Rambo” Colwell; cousins, Zac, Mallory, Blake, Emilie, Bethany, T.J., Brittany, Ashley, Jessica, Amber, Jake, Kloe, Davin and Allen; numerous other aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his father, Randall Colwell; maternal grandfather, T.A. Greenmyer Jr.; and paternal grandmother, Joyce Ware. Funeral services will be 2p.m. Tuesday at Main Street Baptist Church in Stigler with the Rev. John Pruett and Command Sgt. Maj. Marcus W. Sams officiating. Burial will follow at Stigler City Cemetery under the direction of Mallory-Martin Funeral Home & Crematory of Stigler. Full military honors will be provided by the Fort Sill Honor Guard and Patriot Guard Riders.
