Betty Joan Durham Ware, 73, of 184 Sunset Dr., Danville, Va., died on Sunday, June 9, 2019, at Stratford Rehab Center, after a decline in health since 2017. She was born on January 13, 1946, in Pittsylvania County, Va., a daughter of the late Wesley Albert Durham and the late Vivian Odell Yeatts Durham. She lived all of her life in Danville where she worked as a pharmacy tech for 42 years for Kmart. She was a member of First Pentecostal Holiness Church. On July 9, 1962, she married Lee Van Ware, who predeceased her on March 2, 2012. She is survived by a son, Johnny Lee Ware and wife, Myra Ware, of Callands, Va.; two granddaughters, Kelsey Fry and Madalyn Ware; a great-granddaughter, Caraline Fry; a sister, Judy Arnold; a brother, Al Durham; and a number of nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by two brothers, William “Bill” Durham and Louis Albert Durham. Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday, June 13, 2019, at 2 p.m. at the Wrenn-Yeatts Westover Chapel with Pastor Myron Bruce officiating. Interment will follow the service in Danville Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home and at other times will be at the residence. The family wishes to thank the nurses and staff of Stratford Rehab Center for the care given to Mrs. Ware.
