John Ware (1765)

”Pleasants Family Cumberland County Records John Pleasants, Jr. , of Cumberland Co. Va., Will of. Wife Ann œ300 curr. and 3 negroes. Son Samuel Pleasants , one tract of 130 acres bought of James Robinson and adj. the East end of the land on which testator lives. 50 acres bought of Francis West . 70 acres bought of Susanna Carua . 265 acres bought of John Ware on Jones’ Creek . 3 negroes and 1/3 part of his personal estate. Daughter Jane Pleasants , 1 negro and 1/3 part of his personal estate. The child his wife goes with if a son the 265 acres above mentioned bought of Ware, and the remainder of his estate not heretofore given. If a daughter the remaining 1/3 part of his estate. Appointes loving wife and his kinsman James Pleasants executrix & executor. Brother Robert Pleasants guardian to his dear children. Witnesses, James Pleasants , Joseph Pleasants , Judith Scott , Mary Turpin . Proved by the oath of Judith Scott and the affirmation of Joseph Pleasants (he being a Quaker) Jan. 28, 1765 . Ann Pleasants and James Pleasants made affirmation (being Quakers) and qualified as executrix and executor. ”
