”Iberville

Everybody in Iberville has been more interested in politics lately than in planting or sugar rolling and one of the hardest fought contests on record was the white primary election of last Tuesday in which 1,100 voters participated. The nominees are, for sheriff, Mr. A. A. Browne; for clerk of court, Mr. J. A. Grace; for representatives, Hons. J. A. Ware and W. W. Ventress; all present incumbents, and for coroner, Dr. W. E. Barker. Hon. Frederick Wilbert, for senator, and Hon. E. B. Talbot and Hon. L. B. Claiborne, for district judge, were nominated without opposition, and while Iberville gave a majority for District Attorney Alexander Hebert, his friends concede his defeat in the district. The election over, everyone will now devote his time and energy to saving the short crops of cane, which have been seriously hurt by the freeze.”
