”Shelley Club. —The idea of the Shelley Club of St. Louis had its birth in the mind of Mrs. Edward C. Sterling, as early as the spring of 1889, when, with the hope of making a center for the intellectual and literary life of the women of St. Louis, who had Hitherto been working in separate groups, she sent out a programme, from house to house, among her friends, asking each to choose a subject for a paper.
