Leo Ware with an opponent at the net would look straight at him as though to drive the ball through him by sheer speed, and then turn his wrist in making the stroke and lob the ball over his head, with the frequent result of earning an ace on the lob, as his opponent would misread his eyes and keep his weight forward to meet a drive until too late to allow him to get back for the lob.”
