The Salem County Poultry, Pigeon and Pet Stock Association has organized with the following officers: Pres., C. B. Allen; Vice Pres., W. T. Barker; Sec’y., We H. Nuneviller; Treas., Maskell Ware; Supt., C. W. Thompson. The Directors are C. B. Allen,’ W. T. Barker, Elmer Griscom, Edward Steelman and C. S. Dorreil all prominent business men and fanciers. Fifty members were taken in at the first meeting and applications are being received daily. This promises to be one of the largest associations in this section.

The object of the association is the general advancement of the interests of the breeders of poultry, pigeons, pet stock, etc., and to disseminate among the people a more thorough knowledge of the merits and the pleasure and profits to be derived from intelligent and systematic breeding.

A four days show will be held in Salem from December 20 to 23, and J. Harry Wolseiffer, of Vineland, poultry editor of the Philadelphia Record, has been selected as one of the judges for all varieties, while Dr. A. T. Beckett, of Salem, a breeder of national repute of Silver Wyandottes has been selected to judge this class. It is probable that two more judges will be chosen at the next meeting.

The association will join the Am. Poultry Association and secure prominent speakers, members of that body, to give helpful lectures upon the advancement of the poultry industry in general. J. Harry Wolseiffer starts the course with “Egg Production and Feeds aid Their Functions.”

The growth of the poultry business I has been rapid of late years, but is only in the embryonic state and will | increase as soon as it is better under stood and more systematically carried on. Like all other businesses that prove successful, it requires close attention to details, experience and common sense business methods. The industry has great possibilities and will give a living and more to the people who will commence with high grade stock and manage the business right. Superior stock is one of the main things to success. The demand for the best is never satisfied and fine birds will always find a ready sale.

Some of the most influential men of the county are members of this association and it should prove a boon to poultry raisers in the lower part of New Jersey.
