“Mrs. Alma Oliver Ware, principal of the South Bend Training School, calls our attention to a promotion card for kindergarten children, which is used in the South Bend schools. These cards are of interest to kindergartners and are of real value to first grade teachers. A promotion card was advocated by Dr. Hillegass, of Columbia University, in his address at the kindergarten and primary section of the N. I. T. A. and at the close of which Mrs. Ware submitted the one used in the South Bend schools, and it was highly commended. The card takes into consideration the child’s age, time of entrance, attendance, punctuality, health, temperament, deportment, working motive, concentration, number work, language, singing, hand work and gain. Under the last head his improvement is noted.”

I have a photo/clipping from Alma’s Memorial (saved by my grandparents Joseph and Harriet Sartin). I don’t know if you have a copy or not, but you’re welcome to one if you want it.
