“June L. Ware, of Jacksonville, surrounded by her adoring family, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, March 27, 2010, in Jacksonville. June and her identical twin sister, Jane, were born on July 12, 1938, to James and Katye Callaway Lamar in Seagraves, Texas. Their father died when the girls were 3 years old. Their mother married Lt. Col. Arthur Armstrong, U.S. Army Air Corps. He assumed the role of a loving father and raised the girls as his own. The family moved from Texas to Tuscola, IL where the girls graduated from Tuscola High School, and attended Eastern Illinois University.
June married Jon D. Ware on August 12, 1956, at the Methodist Church of Tuscola. They moved to Jacksonville in 1959. She was a dedicated wife and mother.
June was an active volunteer and energetic participant in many community service organizations. She served as president of the Illinois Hospital Volunteers Association, Passavant Area Hospital Auxiliary and also of PEO Chapter CY. She was a member of Household Science, the Jacksonville Country Club, Grace Methodist Church and an active member of the Jacksonville Art Association, having served as co-chairperson of the Beaux Arts Ball. June touched countless lives not only through her volunteerism, but also through her philanthropy.
June enjoyed reading, traveling, painting, floral arranging and attending any events involving her family. She loved spending time with her friends and family, especially her grandson, Jayden, who was the pride and joy of her life. Her attention to detail combined with her thoughtfulness made all who knew her feel treasured. June will be remembered for her southern charm and gracious manner, her gentleness of spirit and kind humor.
June is survived by her husband, Jon; two sons, Brad (wife, Charlyn) Ware of Jacksonville and Todd Ware of St. Louis; her grandson, Jayden Ware, and granddaughter, Kate Fargo, both of Jacksonville; her beloved twin, Jane (husband, Howard) Martin; niece, Beth (husband, Ernie) Baillon; nephew, Jeff Ashworth; great-niece, Madie Baillon, and great-nephews, Wil and Wade Baillon, all of Champaign IL.
June was preceded in death by her parents; her daughter, Melissa Jane; and her daughter-in-law, Mia Ware.
Celebration of Life service at Rammelkamp Chapel on the campus of Illinois College in Jacksonville, with the Rev. Dr. John Kay and Rev. Mike Fender officiating. Private committal service at Woodlawn [note: Wood Wreath] Cemetery near New Berlin.”
