“DEATH OF MRS. FLOYD WARE Troy Mills Pioneer Dies Suddenly of Heart Failure at Blockton. Friends here were greatly shocked by the news of the sudden death of Mrs. Floyd Ware at the family home at Blockton, Iowa. Mr. and Mrs. Ware had spent several weeks here visiting their daughter, Mrs. Fred Ondler, and left here only Thursday of last week, arriving home Friday. While here she suffered a slight attack of heart failure, and a second attack Tuesday morning resulted in her sudden death. The remains were brought to this place Wednesday evening and taken to the home of the daughter, Mrs. Fred P. Ondler, where a brief service was held at 10 o’clock Thursday morning. The funeral was held at 11 o’clock from the M.E. Church at Troy Mills, Rev. J.D. Perry, of Fayette, preaching the sermon.
Mary Olive Gardner was born in Elk county, Pennsylvania on August 6, 1859. She was the youngest child of Charles and Nancy Gardner, and when a little girl of eight years came with her parents and sisters to Linn County, Iowa, where she grew to young womanhood in the vicinity of Central City. February 27, 1876, she was united in marriage to Floyd Ware, to which union were born four children: Thomas, Nancy, Myron and Edith Blanche, all of whom survive her except Blanche who died in infancy. Besides her husband and children she leaves to mourn her death two brothers, Charles Gardner of Dows, and Cyrus Gardner, of Coggon. For about thirty years, Mrs. Ware was a resident of Troy Mills and vicinity, from which place she moved with her husband only last October. She died at her home in Blockton, Iowa, March 12, 1912, aged 52 years, 7 months and 6 days. In 1892 she joined the Methodist Espiscopal Church and remained a faithful member until her death. Mrs. Ware was a true wife, an exceptionally devoted mother, good neighbor, and in addition to her family she leaves a host of friends to whom her life was a source of strength and who will miss her sorely now that she is gone from the scenes of earth. Funeral services were held at the old home town of Troy Mills amidst the scenes in which she had spent so many happy days. The sermon was by Rev. J.D. Perry, of Fayette, her former pastor.”
