John Turner Ware was the Son of James and Elizabeth Margaret Lyon Wier. He changed the spelling of his name from Wier to Ware when he moved to Concho County,Texas in 1879. Before 1900 he moved to Bell County,Texas. Before 1920 he moved to Lampasas County,Texas. John Turner married Martha Jane Skelton born 12-1858 in Washington County,Arkansas. They were married 6-4-1876 in Washington County,Arkansas. She was the Daughter of William M.and Catherine Lewis Skelton. John Turner and Marthas’s Children, Ara Minta, James, Joseph, Andrew, Ruth, Lucy, Forrest, John Turner Jr.and Hilda. After Martha’s death John Turner married Annie Lee Pinkston date unknow. She is buried at Lomita Cemetery Lampasas Co. Texas.
Where did you get the idea John Turner Wier changed the spelling of his last name. We have no record of this, other than, due to low literacy and southern accents sometimes causing Census records to be listed as ‘Ware’
