“Retha Irene Ware, 96, of Greenwood, Arkansas passed to her long awaited heavenly home on Wednesday, June 15, 2011 in Fort Smith after an extended illness.

She was a homemaker, member of Liberty Missionary Baptist Church and for 56 years she was the loving wife of the late, Raymond Ware.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Arie Adonna and Walter Lamb, her sister, Gladys Riddering and brothers, Faye and Harold Lamb.

She was the loving mother of Jan Schmidt and husband, Rod of Alma and Ron Ware and wife, Barbara of Cincinnati, OH; sister to Theolyn Ruhl and husband, Pete; beloved grandmother to Greg Schmidt and wife, Lisa, Kerri Stone and husband, Chris, Scott Schmidt, Shawn Schmidt, Jennifer Rhodes and husband, Rob, Eric Carpenter and wife, Bekki; great grandmother to Lauren McMillan, Brittany Wegis, Jansen and Brandon Schmidt, Seth, Lucas and Nathan Stone, Allyson Stramotas, Daniel Bender and Gunner Schmidt; great great grandmother to Lucciano, Lucas, John and Carson. Retha’s family and friends will be left with cherished and enduring memories of her lifelong faith and devotion to God, her many talents and accomplishments, her great love and kindness to family and friends, and her compassion and reaching out for those in need. Her life was a gift and a light to so many. She will be missed beyond measure.

Funeral service will be 2 pm Tuesday, June 21 at Liberty Missionary Baptist Church in Greenwood with burial at Liberty Cemetery under the direction of McConnell Funeral Home of Greenwood.

Pallbearers will be Scott Schmidt, Eric Carpenter, Stan Brown, Alex Selkirk, Gerald Ware and Walt Ruhl.”
