West Point – Reverend O A “Gene” Ware, age 76, died Wednesday, Oct. 20, 1993 at Baptist Memorial Golden Triangle Medical Center in Columbus. Funeral services were held Friday, Oct. 22 at Calvert Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was in Greenwood Cemetery in West Point with the Rev. Howard Smith and the Rev. Lee Marshall officiating.
The son of the late George Washington and Mary Elizabeth Chapman Ware, he was a native of Woodland and had resided in West Point since 1964. He was a member and minister of the Church of God. He was preceded in death by one son, the late Delton Ware.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Lillie B Ware of West Point; four daughters, Laura Ann Anderson of Tyler, TX, Sabra Inez Hindman of West Point, Syble Faye Elmore of Tuscaloosa, AL and Margaretta Cook of Fayette, AL; one son, Darrell L Ware of West Point and three sisters, Lizzie Dendy of Tupelo, Nannie Mae Morris of Houston and Juanita Caldwell of West Point.
Pallbearers were Kenneth Ware, Donald Ware, Durwood Ware, Wayne Doster, Tommy Parker, Joe Miller, Jimmie Morris, Buddy Clardy and Jimmy Pruett.
Calvert Funeral Home, Inc. of West Point was in charge of arrangements.
