Penelope Freeman Ware, 69, of 8207 Anderson Road, Glen Allen, VA, died Monday, January 23, 2006, in Ft. Lauderdale, FL. Mrs. Nel Ware was born September 18, 1936, in Ahoskie, NC. She obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree from East Carolina University, Greenville, NC. She and her husband, Robert L. Ware, Sr., owned and operated Harbor View Marina and Campground until retiring in 1984. Mrs. Ware was the daughter of the late Reginald B. Freeman and the late Sadie Myers Freeman.

Mrs. Ware is survived by her husband of 50 years, Robert Lewis Ware, Sr.; her daughter, Penelope Elizabeth Shelton of Richmond, VA; her sons, Robert L. Ware, Jr. and his wife, Michele, of Sparta, VA and Charles D. Ware of Glen Allen, VA. She is also survived by six grandchildren, Chris Austin, Tracey Austin, KayLee Ware, BreAnna Ware, Jessie Shelton and Owen Shelton; two sisters, Miriam F. Rawl of Columbia, SC, and Betsy Skipper of Union, SC; and a brother, Reginald B. Freeman, Jr. of Columbia, SC.

A memorial service will be held Sunday, February 5, 2006, at Salem Baptist Church, 24032 Sparta Road, Sparta, VA 22552, at 2:00 p.m. by Rev. Kevin James. In lieu of flowers, the family request memorials be made to Salem Baptist Church.
