Memories of Jack Ware from Janis Ware
The first encounter I had with Jack was when he took Gene and I, Patty and a boyfriend and Jack, Richard, Jesse, Susan and David on a tour of the Tabernacle Organ. He was the technician of the organ. He played a bit then showed us some of the tunnels some of the general authorities had used to escape being arrested for polygamy in the early days of the church. We were very impressed to know someone with such an important job and who knew many general authorities. I was impressed with the smile he always had and his upbeat attitude. Later Jack got into the business of building pipe organs in many wards all over the church. It would be interesting to get a list of all the organs he built. He also worked on repairing many pipe organs around the valley. One that he worked on extensively to rebuild was the one in the Cathedral of the Madeline in Salt Lake. It was while he was working on rebuilding these organs that he discovered his terrible allergy to dust and started taking cortisone to combat that. It is my personal opinion that is one thing that caused the brain tumor that caused his death. After Iona died he gathered his family around and said he needed to find someone to help him raise his children. He had a dream of a little short woman and when he told Bro. Baldarous about it he said, “That sounds like Elia Osorio, a wonderful sister in Mexico.” Jack had not met her but had his friends call her. They told her that there was a man in Salt Lake who wanted to buy her a ticket so she could see the tabernacle organ. It seems like a miracle but she came up and they talked and talked and a short while later they were married in the Salt Lake temple. Later they adopted Paul Arldon and Joseph.
