A Santa Cruz man was killed and eight other persons injured in a head on collision of two cars near Aptas on the Santa Cruz Monterey Freeway.

Leon M. Ware. 85, was the driver of a southbound car, according to the highway patrol, which collided with another driven by Mrs. Ida Mae Goewey, 21, of 438 Almaden Ave., San Jose.

Ware was dead upon arrival at Santa Cruz Hospital.
