Ezra Jones was was born in May, 1862 in Butlerville, Indiana, one of three children of Emmor and Elizabeth Ware. The family moved to Kalamazoo, MI in 1868-69, and in 1873 to Grand Rapids, where Emmor Ware was in the lumber industry. After graduating from Grand Rapids High School, in 1888 Ezra obtained a B.S. from the University of Michigan in Pharmaceutical Chemistry. Also in 1888 he married Lizzie Fargo Hayden. By 1897 he was a chemist with Parke, Davis & Co., a pharmaceutical company. He worked with that company in Detroit before moving to Kansas City, MO, for several decades. Ezra and Lizzie Ware had three children: Elizabeth Ware (born 1892); Dora Edith Ware (born 1893); and Robert Hayden Ware, born 1900. Ezra retired in Florida, where he is listed in the 1945 FL Census.
