KINGS MOUNTAIN- Melba Costner Ware, age 87, resident of Kings Mountain, N.C., passed away on Dec. 29, 2014, at White Oak Manor, Kings Mountain. She was born in Cleveland County, to the late Thomas Evans Costner and Mary Etta Sellers Costner. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Walter Ware; and daughter, Donna Ware.
Mrs. Ware was retired from Cleveland County Schools and an active member of Oak Grove Baptist Church. She was a member of the Friendship Sunday School Class. She was a loving mother who loved her family and raised her family in a loving Christian home. She was a wonderful southern cook and loved sewing, gardening, and traveling. The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff of White Oak Manor and her roommate, Janette Lail.
She is survived by her daughters, Kathy Ware Greene, Shelby, N.C., Amy Ware Pearson and husband Tim, Kings Mountain, N.C., brother, Dean Costner, Kings Mountain, N.C., three grandchildren, Joe Hamrick, Kyle Hamrick, Lacey Pearson.
The family will receive friends from 4:30 until 6:30 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 1, 2015, at Harris Funeral Home, Kings Mountain, North Carolina.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Friday, Jan. 2, 2015, at Oak Grove Baptist Church, with the Rev. Ronell Owensby officiating.
Burial will be at Oak Grove Baptist Church Cemetery, Kings Mountain, North Carolina.
