Richard Ware Walking Obituary, 2013

WALKLING RICHARD WARE, 86, of Newtown Square, PA, passed away on Wednesday May 22, 2013. Richard was the son of the late Marian (nee Ware) and Dr. Adolph A. Walkling and the husband of Alice (nee Phair) Walkling. Richard joined the US Navy after graduating from Lower Merion HS and served during World War II. He returned to study electrical engineering at Swarthmore College, graduating in 1949. He worked from 1949 to 1991 in the electronics industry. Surviving are 3 daughters: Louise “LouAnne” (Randolph) Smith, Laura (Joseph) Ducceschi and Linda Dapkunas; 4 grandsons, one brother: Robert Walkling, as well as a niece and nephew. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Meeting for Worship on Sat. June 1, 11 A.M. at Valley Friends Meeting, 1121 Old Eagle School Rd, Wayne, PA. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Nurturing Minds/Sega Girls School in Tanzania; Checks payable to “Nurturing Minds” (marked “in memory of Richard Walkling”) may be sent to PO Box 144, Valley Forge, PA 19481, or donations may be made online at www.nurturingmindsinafrica.org.
