“THE PILOT OF AMERICAN SHIPPING IN FRANCE
Because of his experience in river navigation and his knowledge of managing river boats, Captain Walter S. Ware of Cincinnati, has been chosen by the United States Government to take complete charge of navigation on the rivers of France, which will be used for shipping supplies to the American front. As soon as Captain Ware organizes a company of river pilots, mates, bargemen, sail-makers, and master ship’s carpenter, he will sail for France with the American river navigators and mechanics.”
