Bernice Beatrice Ware, 90, of Altus and former Mangum
resident, died Sunday, Jan. 21, 2001, in Altus. Funeral
services were held at 11 a.m. today at Trinity Baptist
Church in Mangum with the Rev. John Robles officiating.
Burial was at Riverside Cemetery at Mangum under the
direction of Peoples Cooperative Funeral Home of Lone
Wolf.
She was born June 18, 1910, northwest of Altus, to James
Oliver and Maud Ellis (Buchanan) Baird. She married Rufus
Lee Ware on Sept. 21, 1928, in Greer County. They had four
children, Pansy, Dale, Jo Ann and Jean. She worked as an
aide in the geriatric ward in the old Mangum hospital in
the early 1960s. She and her husband farmed and ranched in
the Ladessa Community until the mid 1960s when they moved
to Mangum. She moved to Altus in 1992.
Ware was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of
60 years, Rufus; one son, Dale Ware; her only sister, Rita
Crabb and one nephew, Joe Crabb.
Survivors include: three daughters and sons-in-law, Pansy
and Lloyd Crow of Elk City, Jo Ann and Herman Seymour of
Sayre and Jean Stamey of Altus; 10 grandchildren; 10 great
grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren and seven
nieces and nephews.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Arthritis
Foundation."
