”Fijis Banquet on the Border
At the same time that our newest chapter in Phi Gamma Delia was being installed at Pittsburgh, a group of loyal Fijis under the leadership of Cal C. Chambers, former field secretary, gathered at the Sheldon Hotel, El Paso, to celebrate the event and to enjoy the evening in a “get together” party.
It was a coincidence, indeed, to fmd so niany followers of the royal purple away out here at Kl Paso on the border, but not at all strange that they should have retained the old fire and “pep” which should prompt them to want to renew old ties in celebrating
the addition of a new chapter to the Fraternity.
After a banquet with all the luscious and tempting delicacies of the season, the following toasts were given with fire, patriotism, love, and loyalty for our Country and our Fraternity:
“Welcome to Texas”
J. Patrick Holmes.
“Our Secretary of War”
Cal C. Chambers.
“The Two New Babies”.R. C. Semple. “Memories”. . . Judge E. S. McDaniel.
“Phi Gamma Delta and Fijis”
Capt. W. C. Whitlock.
“Cal Chambers” Rov F. Allen.
Judge Paul D. Thomas made an excellent toastmaster handling the situation with cleverness and capability. The toasts were interspersed with songs and yells, and all together the evening was one of great enjoyment
