J.A. Ware (1866)

“J. A. Ware, of Nebraska City, organized, in 1866, a branch in Omaha aider the name of J. A. Ware & Co. Ware’s bank in Nebraska City failed about 1872, but prior to that time, in 1870, the Omaha business was bought by ex-Governor Saunders, Frank Murphy, B. B. Wood, and others, and organized into the State Bank of Nebraska, which afterwards, in 1882, was converted into the present Merchants’ National Bank of Omaha.”
