"Mrs. Goss Mattox died at her home in Hogansville,
Feb 4th, after an illness of several months. She
is survived by her husband, one sun, Kendrick Mattox,
and two daughters, Mrs. Arthur C. Smith Jr. and Mrs.
Ed Strain Jr., all of Hogansville; her mother, Mrs.
A.C. Ware of Newnan; her sisters, Mrs. Ralph Sanders
of Columbia, S.C., Mrs. Wade Stallings of Newnan, and
Mrs. Robert Williams of Greenville, Ala. Her brothers
are J.B. Ware of Detroit and A.C. Ware Jr. of Liberty,
S.C. Mrs. Mattox was the former Miss Johnnie Mae Ware
of Cooksville, the daughter of Mrs. A.C. Ware and the
late Mr. Ware. Funeral services were held Thursday
afternoon at the Askew-Trippe Funeral Home in Hogansville
with the Rev. Mr. Smith pastor of the First Baptist
Church officiating. Burial followed in the Corinth
Cemetery where her father is buried. Mrs. Mattox was
considered quite an authority on antiques and had
completely furnished her lovely home on Telaiferro
Drive in old pieces of rare beauty."
