Mrs. Laura S. Alexander Ware Obituary, 1923

“Jackson–Nov. 17–Mrs. Laura S. Ware (nee Alexander) died last night at 9 o’clock at the home of her daughter, Mrs. G. M. Short, after a brief illness caused by a paralytic stroke suffered just a few hours before her demise.
Mrs. Ware was born in this county February 13, 1847, and was therefore 76 years of age at her demise. she was the daughter of Elam and Margaret Alexander, Scotch-Irish pioneers who helped make this county what it is. On December 20, 1866, she was married to Meletus B. Ware, who passed away March 19, 1877, leaving her with five small children. Mrs. Ware not only reared the children to manhood and womanhood, but also successfully managed the farm north of Jackson on the Fruitland road, until old age compelled her to relinquish the active management.
Two children survive: Eph Ware and Mrs. Ada I. O. Short, both living in the Fruitland neighborhood. Only one sister mourns her death, Mrs. Mollie Hays of Fruitland. there is a large number of grandchildren and several great grandchildren, and other relatives.
The funeral will be held at the Pleasant Hill Presbyterian church near Fruitland Sunday at 11 o’clock a.m. Interment will be made in the cemetery near the church. Mrs. Ware had been a member of this church practically all her life.”
