”FAT CATTLE.

Though so many fat cattle were on the ground the committee were sorry to find so few animals really fattened for the shambles. Beef packing is, and is to be, a most important business in Illinois, in which the farmer and land owner have an especial interest in connection with the stock breeder and the butcher and packer, and it is to be hoped that at our next fair a more considerable show of animals intended for beef will be forthcoming.

THOMAS COWEN,
J. FRANKLIN EVENS,

Committee.”
