Just a few words concerning the value of our Official Journal. It is a well known fact that the majority of people classed as westerners are originally easterners. I am no exception to the rule. We therefore are always on the lookout for news from the Home town. Here in Los Angeles we have men in our business from Chicago, Boston, New York, Cleveland, St. Louis and other “Big Towns.” So I am sure if writers of local Unions would put a little more personal news of their members in our Journal it would be greatly appreciated by all westerners.

It has been constantly asked why the news of Boston and Cleveland electrotypers is so scarce. I know Boston has always been noted for its fine bunch of fellows. George Manton. Robert Williams, Bob Manton, John King. George Parkinson. Sam Ware, the Scott boys, whose fathe.r the late Geo. C. Scott, was the pioneer of the electrotyping business, whose word vas his bond, who was the most kindly gentleman New England ever produced. There are many others too numerous to mention who we would like to hear from. Los Angeles has beveral Chicago men too, so let’s hear from Chicago electrotypers. …”
