“A DIRGE.
BY MARY WARE.
List, ye winds of summer.
Tune yonr harps again.
Torn your gayest measures
To a saddened strain.
Mourn for our departed—
One who loved you well—
The pure and gentle-hearted,
Lovely Cora Bell.
When spring again shall waken,
To bid the earth rejoice.
We’ll miss, oh! move than ever
The music of her voice.
The flowers have lost their beauty.
The sky its sweetest blue,
Because our hearts are clouded—
No sunlight trembles through.
She blossomed like the flowers
That gladden earth awhile,
Then left these hearts of ours
The memory of her smile.”
