| Funeral service for Mrs. Velma Locke Ware, 95, of Alexander City, will be Monday, January 11, 2010 at 2:00 pm at the Chapel of Radney Funeral Home. Rev. Lynn Peters will officiate. Burial will follow in the Hillview Memorial Park. The family will receive friends on Monday, January 11, 2010 from 12:00 noon to 2:00 pm at Radney Funeral Home.
Mrs. Ware passed away on Thursday, January 7, 2010 at Chapman Healthcare Center. She was born on October 31, 1914 in Tallapoosa County to Thomas A. Locke and Ruby V. Bentley Locke. She worked as an Assistant Treasurer for the Avondale Credit Union. She was a member of Comer Memorial United Methodist Church and active in the United Methodist Women. Mrs. Ware was also a member of the Laureate Beta Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi. She is survived by her sister-in-law, Earline Locke of Alexander City and a host of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Varner McKenzie Ware; sisters, Ruth Patrick and Virginia Staker; and brothers, Elma Locke, Sam Locke, and Joe Locke. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be given to Comer Memorial United Methodist Church, 427 E. Church St., Alexander City, AL 35010. |
