Willie B. Ware Sr. Obituary, 2005

“OKOLONA – Willie B. “Billy” Ware Sr., 80, died Thursday, Feb. 17, 2005, at his home. He was born June 27, 1924, to the late Tom Ware and Mae Willie McIntosh Ware. He was a member of Jolly Chapel M.B. Church, where he was a deacon, church clerk and treasurer. He was a retired salesman for Western Auto in Tupelo. He was the husband of the late Jessie Kate Ware. He enjoyed fishing and hunting.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Jolly Chapel M.B. Church with Bishop Willie B. Ware Jr. officiating. Burial will be in Okolona Cemetery. Kenneth I. Roberson Funeral Home of Pontotoc is in charge of the arrangements.

Survivors include three daughters, Laria Gathings and husband, Willie B., of Cleveland, Ohio, Dorothy “Pat” Keaton and husband, Donell, of Okolona, and Betty Nixon of Lansing, Mich.; three sons, Willie B. Ware Jr. and wife, Celia, of Okolona, Harvey Ware and wife, Lonnie, of Memphis, and James Ware and wife, Frankie, of Houston; a sister, Lillie Mae Moore of Chicago; 17 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Friday at the Sunrise Church of God of Prophecy in Okolona. The body will lie in state at Jolly Chapel M.B. Church one hour prior to services Saturday.”
