James Warren Ware

James (Jim) Warren Ware age 74, passed away on Sunday, February 25, 2018 from a long battle with Parkinson’s. He was born on November 4, 1943 in Allentown, PA., the son of Lawrence and Lillian Ware.

He was preceded in death by Doris Ware, his wife of 44 years and will be missed by his brother Larry Ware and sister-in-law Mary Ware; his children Guy Harriott, Jamie Harriott, Ryan Harriott, and Tara Stanley and three grandchildren Jordan, Devan and Kalea. Jim is also survived by daughters-in-law, Wendy and Debbie and brother-in-law Robert Lix.

Jim loved family and friends and enjoyed spending time with them. He retired from Bethlehem Steel after 34 years and moved to Largo, Florida from Allentown in 2000. As a young man, he served in the United States Air Force and always lived life on the edge with many activities. He was a life time member of the Hogan’s social club in Allentown.

Jim’s love for boating, the water and motorcycles was especially enjoyable to him. He loved to cruise the world with Doris and friends and videotaped every minute he could. You could always count on Jim to share his drawer full of chocolate snacks with you.

A gathering to celebrate his life is scheduled for Saturday, March 31, 2018 at 11:30 AM with a noon service following at the L.W. Mohn Funeral Home.

Ware, Dr. Betty J., 90, nursing professor, died Feb. 27. Services 11 a.m. Tuesday (Mercer-Adams, Bethany).

Betty Jean Ware, daughter of Roy Melvin and Ruby Lenore Lumkin Ware Thomas, was born February 12, 1928. After her father’s death, Betty was raised by her mother and maternal grandparents, Harvey N. Lumpkin and Pearl Hart Lumkin. She never married; but dedicated herself to a life of service to others through her nursing profession.

Betty had a master’s degree of Nursing Administration from the University of Colorado. She taught as the Associate Professor of Nursing at Southern Nazarene University until her retirement in 1993. She previously was a Nursing Educator at Oklahoma Baptist University and the University of Oklahoma. She worked in several positions culminating as Director of Nursing Service at Baptist Hospital in 1973.

Her closest relatives are Dr. and Mrs. Robert Morgan of Oklahoma City. She leaves many close friends.

Viewing will be Monday, 9am-9pm, with family present from 6-8pm at Mercer-Adams. Funeral services are set for Tuesday, March 6, 11:00am at Mercer-Adams Chapel, 3925 N. Asbury, Bethany, OK with interment in Altus,

Shirley Ware Lambert Obituary, 2018

HAMPTON – Shirley Ware Lambert, 73, of Hampton, died Sunday, March 25, 2018 in Ft. Worth, Texas. She was born November 11, 1944, in Ft. Worth, to the late Ray and Ozelle Garner Ware. She was also preceded in death by her husband Gene Lambert.

She is survived by her son William “Bill (Mearlene) Ball of Genoa; her daughter Marina (John) Henry of Hampton; her grandchild Morgan Echols of Genoa.

Shirley retired from Smackover State Bank after many years of service to the El Dorado community. She was the former secretary, Sunday school teacher and singer at Antioch Baptist Church for more than 30 years. She had a deep love for her church family.

Laura was born in Wellington, AL. and was the third of twelve Children born to the union of the late John and Vonnie Ware. She was an Educator with the Gadsden City School System for 37 years as an English and Home Economics instructor where she touched many lives. Laura’s passion included sewing, cooking, entertaining, floral arranging and beautifying her yard.

Laura was an active member of St. Peter Lutheran Church until her death, she served in many capacities such as singing, teaching and decorating. She was also a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., where she held many offices and served on numerous committees. She leaves to cherish her memories a devoted husband, John L. Jacobs; children, John L. Jacobs III and Mia Jacobs-Turner (Robert); grandchildren, John L. Jacobs IV, Nia Bella-Marie Turner, and Robert J. Turner; Siblings, Vonnie M. Fleming, JoAnn Ware, Julie E. Ware, Mary W. Register (Perry), James E. Ware, Charles J. Ware (Fran), Negretta W. Wilson, Dr. Lawrence R. BROOKWOOD – Vera Mae Ware, age 89, of Brookwood, Ala, passed away Tuesday, May 1, 2018. Visitation will be at the funeral home Friday, May 4, 2018 from 2:00 p.m. – 2:45 p.m. Graveside services and burial will follow at 3:00 p.m. at Tuscaloosa Memorial Park. Tuscaloosa Memorial Chapel is directing.

Vera was preceded in death by her parents, W.D. and Augusta Sellers; a granddaughter, Wendy Kizziah; grandsons, Cory Chapman and Bobby Goodwin.

She is survived by her son, Joe Williamson; daughters, Shelia Lewis, Bonnie Goodwin, Anda Robbins (Warren) and Judy Chapman; 12 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.

Vera was a lifelong resident of Brookwood, Ala. She was a devoted Christian, loving mother, grandmother, friend and neighbor. She loved playing cards, flowers, the color purple and Alabama football. Vera enjoyed her trips to the beach.

Pallbearers will be Wayne Goodwin, Joey Williamson, Scott Lewis, Phillip Deerman, J.R. Holley and Shane Kimbrell. Honorary pallbearers will be Kerry Prickett, Dr. Praveen Jetty, Dr. Stephen Ikard, Dr. Rick Player, and Dr. Lisa Larson.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Cancer Society in honor of Vera M. Ware.

Timothy A. Ware, 63, passed away on May 6, 2018. He was born on June 1, 1954 in Fremont, OH. He was a veteran serving in the U.S. Air Force. He was preceded in death by his parents Roger and Dorothy Ware, brothers Michael Ware, Matthew Ware, brother-in-law Phillip Morris. Barbara  Jean Cole Ware Brown

Mrs. Barbara Jean Cole Ware Brown, age 83, of Rome passed away Friday, May 4, 2018 at Pruitt Health Care of Rome.

She was born Feb. 4, 1935 in the Flint Hill Community. Mrs. Brown was preceded in death by her parents, Henry Arvil Cole and Cora Lee Baker Cole. She was also preceded in death by seven brothers and sisters: by Thomas Ware, father of her children, and husband Allen Brown.

She was raised in the Flint Hill and Wax Communities and attended Harmony School. Mrs. Brown was a CNA and worked for over 40 years in local Nursing and Personal Care Homes. Her life’s work was dedicated to helping others.

Mrs. Brown was saved into the family of God and Baptized into the Wax Baptist Church Family at the age of 24. She was later an organizing and charter member of Harmony Baptist Church. In recent years she attended Cross Pointe Church.

She was a member of Lindale Chapter No. 265 Order of the Eastern Star where she was a past Worthy Matron and had filled many stations.

Mrs. Brown was also a dual member of the Rockmart Chapter No. 321 Order of the Eastern Star, where she had been associate Matron and filled many stations. She was a member of the Amaranth at Fidelity Court No. 6 where she was past Royal Matron and filled many other stations.

She was the last surviving child of Arvil and Cora Lee but leaves two sons to carry on her family. Newton Grier Ware and wife Almeda of Wax. Granddaughter Rainece Dupree and grandson Levi Ware. Great granddaughter Kaylin Dupree whom she dearly loved. Richard Gregory Ware and wife Stella of Rome. Granddaughter Nikki Thornton and husband Michael, great grandchildren Keith, Raiden and Tailon Thornton.

She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

The family received friends on Monday, May 7 at 1 p.m. in the Cross Pointe Community Church, Highway 101, Aragon.

Funeral services followed the visitation at 2 pm. in the Cross Pointe Church with Rev. Gary Diggs officiating and Lindale Chapter No. 265 providing Eastern Star Rites. Interment followed in the Pleasant Hope Baptist Church Cemetery.

Nephews and Great Nephews served as Pallbearers.

The families may be reached at their respective residences.

The Alvis Miller and Son Funeral Home was in charge of funeral arrangements for Mrs. Barbara Jean Cole Ware Brown.

FRIENDSHIP – Linda Louise Ware Martin, age 72, of Friendship, went to be with the Lord Monday, May 14, 2018 after a long battle with multiple autoimmune diseases.

She was born June 5, 1945 in Friendship, Arkansas, and was the daughter of the late Earl and Callie Warren Ware. She was a member of the Baptist church since 1965. After graduating from Ouachita High School, her career began with Southwestern Bell in Arkadelphia; followed by Henderson State University and many years of working in the Banking Industry in Arkansas and Louisiana. Linda loved listening to and singing Christian music with her family and friends. She had a passion for cooking and gardening. Her husband, children and grandchildren were the light of her life. Many enjoyed her big laughs, big meals and big hugs.

She was preceded in death by her brother, Murrell Ware; and sisters, Alene Ware Martin, Bernice Ware Dyess, Clara Belle Ware and Kathryn Ware. Linda is survived by her husband of 55 years, Don Martin; daughter, Kim (Charles) Robinson and granddaughter, Cassie Borland of Bryant; son, Rick (Mickie) Martin and granddaughter, Rachel Parks of Hot Springs, Robert (Shelby) Martin of Bismarck, Taylor and Andrew Burnett of Bismarck and Ashley Martin of Bismarck; great-grandchildren, Mason, and K J Parks and Eli Martin. She is also survived by sisters, Thelma Shepherd of Arkadelphia, Hazel Hixon of Donaldson, Earlene Roles of Hot Springs and Ginger (Gene) Davis of Friendship and many treasured nieces and nephews.

The Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, May 16, at the Ruggles Wilcox funeral home. Services will be at 4 p.m. Thursday, May 17th at Ruggles-Wilcox Funeral Home in Arkadelphia with Brother Ronnie Hardin officiating, followed burial at Caney Cemetery.
