Elnathan Ware

“Elanathan Ware, the second son and fourth of the six children of John and Bathsheba Ware, has ha no mention of his early life preserved beyond mention in his father’s will in which he was given twenty-five acres and ten pounds of gold.  There is no record of him until 1760, when he gave bond to the state when he obtained ‘License of Marriage’ to ‘Mercy Moore.’  He was then resident of Greenwich, Cumberland County, New Jersey, his wife, Mercy, a daughter of Enoch Moore of the same town.

Elanathan and Mercy (Moore) Ware were the parents of nine children.”

  1. Hello – I have been looking into tracing some of our ancestors and have come to find out it leads to Elnathan Ware out of Cumberland County, NJ. I have traced the lines through my father upward to Elathan as follows:
    Michael Patrick Ware (1982 – )
    Patrick Terrance Ware (1952- )
    Basil Robert Ware (1912 – 1989)
    Harry Jefferson Ware (1884 – ?)
    Enoch Holmes Ware (1829 – 1902)
    John Ware (1799 – 1871)
    Enoch Ware (1775 – 1803)
    Elnathan Ware (1728 – ?)

I was just curious as to what information you had and what we might be able to share. I imagine we are related somehow and until yesterday had no clue we came from New Jersey. I was always told we were from Wales or County Cork in Ireland if we went back far enough, I have only been able to find Joseph Ware of Fenwick Colony in England dating back to 1675. Anyhow, I just starting researching yesterday and would love to learn anything about the family.
