"EMORY PORTER DUREN
Age 63, formerly of Norfolk, died Monday, December 29,
1952 at Miami, Fla after having been in failing health
for three years. He was a former employee of the Oxwell
Railroad Service Thomasville GA Company. He was a
native of Thomasville, Ga, had been a resident of Miami
for two years. He was a resident of Norfolk from 1933
to 1942. A son of the late THOMAS CLARENCE and Mrs.
KATHERINE ELIZABETH MONCRIE DUREN, he was a member of the
Flagler Street Baptist Church of Miami and the Masonic Order
in Savannah, Ga. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. VIRGINIA
WARE DUREN of Miami; 2 daughters, Mrs. MICHAEL KORNAZEWICH
of King's Beach, Calif and Miss BARBARA ANN DUREN of Miami;
2 sons, JAMES E. DUREN of Greensboro, NC and THOMAS J. DUREN
of Norfolk; 6 sisters, Mrs. LLOYD HENDERSON, Mrs. W.L.
TURNER, MRS. TOM MCNEILL and Mrs. W.J. GRIFFIN of New
Smyrna Beach, Fla, Mrs. FLORENCE SMITH of Miami and Mrs.
FRANK BURROUGHS of Jacksonville, Fla and 5 grandchildren.
After funeral services in Miami on Wednesday, December 31,
1952 the body was sent to Norfolk. The body will be taken
from the Cox Funeral Home to Riverside Memorial Park for
services at the grave tomorrow at 3 pm. The Rev JUNIUS
FOSTER, pastor of Norview Baptist Church, will officiate.
The family will be at the residence of Mr. Duren's son,
THOMAS J. DUREN, 4809 Sharpley Circle. Pallbearers were
W.J. SMITH, JESSIE HUGHES, RUSSELL DAVIS, C.S. KESTER,
GUS O'SHIELDS and MOSES G. TODD."
