LAWRENCE — Services will be 1:30 p.m. Friday at Warren-McElwain Mortuary here for Bernard Ware, 64, Lawrence, who died May 28, 1999, at a Lawrence hospital.

He was born July 11, 1934, in Merriam, to Elsworth and Mildred Ware, and lived in Lawrence about 25 years. He was an engineer for 12 years for the Williams Natural Gas Co. in Tonganoxie before he retired in August 1996.

He was a member of the Baptist Church and attended St. Luke’s AME Church in Lawrence. He was a member of the Domino Club at Bud’s Barber Shop in Lawrence many years.

He married Kyra A. Wright Reed on Nov. 30, 1979, in Lawrence. She survives.

Sons Anthony Ware and Bernard Ware Jr., preceded him in death. Survivors include sons, Kevin Ware, Lancaster, Calif., Gary Ware, Eric Ware, Wayne Jones and Gary Jones, all in Kansas City, Mo., Delaino Wright, Dallas, and Derrick Jones and Darren Jones, both in Phoenix; and daughters, Cynthia Lyons and Glenda Jones, both in Kansas City, Mo., Valerie King, Lancaster, Calif., Cheryl Smith, Columbia, Tenn., and Talonna Reed and Madonna Reed, both in Lawrence. Also surviving are brothers, Elsworth Ware, Kansas City, Mo., and Clifford Ware, Merriam; and many grandchildren.

Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery in Lawrence.

Mr. Ware will lie in state after 9 a.m. Thursday at the mortuary.”
