“Charles E. “Chuck” Ware, 68, of 23668 Highway 30 East, Carroll, formerly of Ottumwa, died at 8:28 a.m. Feb. 11, 2009, at St. Anthony Regional Hospital in Carroll.

He was born Feb. 7, 1941, in Ottumwa to Russell and Alta “Peg” Munn Ware. He married Beverly Smith Dec. 19, 1959, in York, Neb.

A graduate of Ottumwa High School in 1959, he had served in the U.S. Air Force. He operated the A and W Root Beer Stand on North Court in Ottumwa from 1968-1978. He moved to Carroll, Iowa, in 1979 and owned and operated Carroll Bowl for the last 30 years. He was a member of the Carroll Moose Lodge and many bowling associations. Chuck enjoyed his family, playing cards, playing golf and bowling.

Surviving is his wife, Beverly; a son, Ken (Linda) Ware of Glidden, Iowa; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; his mother, Peg Ware of Ottumwa; four brothers, Bill (Judy) Ware of Monmouth, Ill., Rick (Sandy) Ware of Amarillo, Texas, Randy Ware of California and Roger (Rhonda) Ware of Ottumwa.

He was preceded in death by his father, Russell Ware; a brother, Dick Ware and a granddaughter, Jessica Ware.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Monday at Reece Funeral Home in Ottumwa with Rev. Dale Gray officiating.”
